Today’s project is two lessons…today we draw and next time we’ll add color. If you want it to be a stand-alone lesson, you can skip the first step and just fill your whole paper with your city.
Holding your paper horizontally(or landscape-style), draw a horizontal line in the center(ish) of your paper. This will be the horizon line, where the sky meets the ground. On the line, draw buildings to create a skyline. Only draw on the horizon line and above, leaving the bottom half empty. Add architectural details to your buildings (I included some reference sheets to help you). When you are finished with your drawing, trace all your pencil lines with a black sharpie if you have one.

If you are looking for more inspiration, here is an iMovie I made of cityscapes throughout the history of art.
